Hi everbody,
I'm new in marine tank and got the redsea kit test for testing my tank.
So, I don't know how to measure the nitrate test.
What means (low range) (High range) in the nitrate test ?
In my tank is : 0,1 ppm of (nitrite) and 10 ppm "low range" and at the same color 50 "high range" of (NITRATE)
What is the truth NITRATE in ppm ?
Is it High ? and how do I measure the nitrate ? and what is the highest level I can have in my FO tank ?
**** Thanks everbody ****

in kits like these, the high range is usually diluted out by RO/DI or distilled water, usually to 1/5 the amount in the ones I have seen.
does your test kit call for diluting the tested tank water with RO/DI or distilled water for the high range reading?
If you used straight tank water, no dilution, and in the proper amount for the test, than the low range is the value you should be looking at.

Mike Js,
hi, in my test is wrote : (it is not always whether a nitrate test measure the NO3 or the NO3- nitrogen (NO3-N). This test give you the amont of NO3 inos in ppm. The amont of NO3-N is of no importance to the aquarist, but you can obtain this figure by dividing your test result by 4.4)
So, do I need divide the high range ou the low range value ?
And is wrote after : (presence of nitrite can falsify the amont of nitrate detect with the test. In case you test a new or unbalanced aquarium, test fist nitrite.
if nitrite level higher than 0,1 ppm is present see the table below. With an amont of more than 2 ppm, the interference will get so high, that it is impossible to get an accurate nitrate reading.
true nitrate level, relative to the
amont of nitrite in the water
0.2 0.5 1
______________________________
2.5 0 0 0
ppm of nitrate 5 3 0 0
10 8 5 0
from nitrate test 20 20 15 10
50 50 50 40
_______________________________
So, I measure 0,1 ppm nitrite
and 10 ppm low hange nitrate and at the same color is 50 high range nitrate.
How much nitrate I have ?
Thanks so much
