fluval canister filter

Hi everbody,

I'm seting up a 30gal fish only tank and I'm thinking about to get one fluval canister filter with the bio ceramic for my biological filtration.

Is it a good choice ? Is it a good bio filter ?


What else I need in my fish only tank ?

Bad choice, instead look at getting a skimmer. Canister filters can cause nitrate problems that you dont need.

I would say if the tank is going to have a small bio load since it is only a Fish only system a skimmer is not really needed. But if he was going to have a large bio load on his system then yes. Having a skimmer would be helpful. The fluival would work but I am not sure about the ceramic tho.

I want just maybe 4 or 5 fishes, no live rock, nothing just the fishes
Do you think the fluval 304 will be good for my 30gal tank ?
