I have had fw tanks for many many years. I have had exotic, community, unclassified, etc. types. Still have 3 up and running. I have a 55gal, 15 high, and a 20gal. I am way to awfully experienced at it. Reason for the new sw experience  BTW new sw is doing great thanks to all who helped...tank has cycled and I have added sand substrate of agra alive water packed sand which I have to say is wonderful!, added more live rock, have the 3 damsels, 2 oscellaris clowns, 1 green ricordia mushroom, 2 blue legged and 1 red legged hermit, 1 coral banded shrimp, 1 emerald crab, and a pink tipped anemone. Coral line is spreading really rapidly!! Thought it would take 6mo or so till I started to see that but it really spreads quick! Plan on adding about another 15-25lbs of live rock just don't quite have enough yet only about 20 or so pounds I think I have kinda lost track. I will post some pics soon if I can get some good ones. I have taken some really blurry ones and a couple of good ones and taken them to work to show off my new hobbie. Loven Reefin :)

Fresh Water? Who wants freshwater? What challange is that? LOL We kept a 55g FW tank for years. Different fish throughout the life of the tank, wife finally ended up with those big ugly headed gold fish. When if got to the point that I had to take care of her FW tank and my SW tank I told her to get rid of it or clean it herself. Well it's gone now. :-)

i know their not small, i had one that got to about a foot before i had to give her away.. she pitched a fit as we pulled into the LFS, splashed all but about 2 inches of water out, man i was wet. o well, past times. but i do wnt to get an oscar after all my present salt goals are met

I used to love to keep oscars.....neat fish (but distructive and messy)....I'd get them as juveniles, and grow them until they didn't fit in the tank anymore, then take them to the LFS and trade them for new juveniles...

WoW I forgot about Oscars man they taste good. :-) Long before they became a LFS favorite, or were in a LFS for that matter, me and my dad were fishing down in southern Florida and caught some. We had no idea what they were, but they tasted real good. We used to catch them all the time, now many years later I see them in a LFS being sold as pets. I can still recall how good they tasted battered and deep fried.
I grew up in South Florida and we fished all the time and had never seen one before then all of a sudden we caught one and over the next two years they almost took over the canals in Homestead.

yeah i believe they were intentionally release in s. fla. to be used as game fish and after having to move mine recently i believe they could put up a good fight, sorry about the red x, i was using Hpphoto and they don't allow links anymore so i was trying webshots but all i get are xs, oh well i guess i'll look for something else

I always wondered how an oscar would taste...does it taste anything like bass?

I have kept FW tanks of varying sizes since I was 11 yrs old (I am now 35). We just got rid of a 75 FW and are down to just a 10 gal planted w/a few fish. Just can't seem to let it go completely.
Hey
Check this post out if you have not seen it already http://www.coralforum.com/ftopic3114.html :D

I raise African Cichlids, and sell the babies to LFS to support my raising of africans. and now it is going to support my salt-water habit now.
I have 80 gallon, (3) 55 Gallons, (2) 40 Gallons, 20 long, (4) 10 gallon hospital/fry tanks.
I have 4 LFS that give me store credit and Petsmart pays me outright 1/2 of what they charge, in cash.
Oh and almost forgot.... 2.5 gallon betta tank in wife's office and a 10 gallon tank I raise apple snails(Mystery Snails) in.... :D
Kept them for years but then came the saltwater thing.....
