What are these. They are about a 1/4 inch long.

From what little you've described, it sounds like spaghetti worms.

yeah....red....I was thinking baby bristleworms....

If it's a Britsleworm, then you have some of the most benificial critters avaliable in our reef tanks. Great scavangers however very capable of stinging so don't touch them with your bare hands.

Only the smaller ones I have a 4 incher lerking in my tank I have been trying to catch for a while

hehe...Ive got a few 6" and as big aroud as a pencil..... :shock:

so far no problems from him though

4 inches? Nothing to worry about, I've got a ton around that size. The only time I would ever thing about removing one is if it were 8+ inches big.

where do bristle worms come from? j/w are they some kind of hitchhiker?

Yup, they're a very common hitchicker. They come from the live rock. Infact, I don't really think I've ever seen a reef tank without them.

Are they flat? Could be flatworms. How long has this tank been setup?
