I agree. But, I currently have various plants that were hitch hikers on my LR growing in m Fuge. The only one that I can positively identify is the Halimeda Plant. Then I have a number of brown sea weed type macro algaes. I was considering getting some shaving brushes. Any word on what sort of benefits they have in the Fuge?

Same as any other.. they absorb NO3 and PO4 .. The great thing about shaving brushes is Herbavores love them.. I harvest them out of my fuge into the display tank. You dont have to worry about Shaving brushes because they dont go asexual on you like some of the other macro algae like Cularpa, which if you get it going in your display tank can make a huge mess :) Not to mention when they do go asexual they release all the NO3 and PO4 back into the tank which could cause your system to crash..

I love the look of the shaving brushes as well.. but I wouldnt go buy them without a fuge :) Unless you want them gone in a couple days.. great natural food source

i agree. anouther good one is the madians hair plant. also the halmaida is another one. if you are looking for a good refungium macro i would go with chetlomorphia it doesnt go sexual and it works very well. also red glaceria.

I have read that if you have the room to do it, the mangrove tree is hands down the best nutrient absorbing plant there is for use in a reef aquarium system...

Now how do I go about talking my wife into letting me turn the basement into a mangrove swamp....
