Does anyone have any ideas about a good skimmer for a 44 gallon tank.

Depends on how much you want to spend :D
In the under $200.00 category, most people I've spoken to consider the AquaC Remora to be about the best. The CBR Bak Pak with the biofloss removed is another that gets pretty good reviews. The Prizm and Seaclone both get mixed reviews, out of the two the Prizm is probably considered a better skimmer.
Skimmers to avoid include the Skilter and the Visi-Jet.

I use the CPR bakpak and it's served me well. No worries about adjusting it, just keep the hose clean for the air intake.
I would advise you to stay away from the ones with airstones. They are hard to keep adjusted and the airstones clog pretty fast.

OMG, I forgot about the Skilter, what a piece of crap. I had the CPR Backpak on my old 75 and it worked great, I might go with something bigger if I set it up again.

hey now i use the visi jet and love it. it pulled more crap from my tank than the prizm did. I use the visi for my LR now because i got a JEBO 180. they are great got it from ebay for $30. its rated for tanks up to 180 gallons. Ebay it for a skimmer!

Im using the prism delexe model on my 55 gallon setup, it works great. You will be suprised on the level of waste it pulls from a tank on a weekly basis, def. get a skimmer it helps on water quality alot. Everyone will have their own opinions on differant ones.
