I love to walleye fish, especially through the ice...it's a blast! I do quite a bit of ice fishing, we have 5 major resivours within 100 miles of where I live....

yea I do my walleye fishing from my boat now,I use to love Ice fishing, I had a beautiful set up for ice fishing until,I let my son use my stuff and truck and got to close to the bridges in Devils lake and dropped it threw the Ice that cost me a little over 6000,for some reason I lost interest in ice fishing.
but Devils lake has some of the best walleye fishing around, it's pretty easy to get at least a 5 pounder in the boat if you get out early enough, so far my biggest is 13.8 I caught, here in my home town on the red river, jigging with a white mister twister.

Check this picture out!

We took that at an ice fising derby we went to in Feburary...this guy drove his new Hummer H2 out on the ice...needless to say, it wasn't thick enough!

ouch is right! I about died when we drove past that, ....I couldn't believe he drove that nice hummer out on that ice....we have had a warm winter, the ice was only 7-10 inches thick...they couldn't get it out that night, they had to wait until the next day...everybody driving past were all taking pictures of it...it was kinda hilarious....

but they did get it out before it went under? if so good for him,it cost me $2,600 just to pull mine out, I just wish I would of had a digital camera back then, I had some nice perch in it when it came out,it was there for 2 days, because the guy that pulls them out would'nt go out there till he got bigger skid bars. it was in 20 feet of water.

no, that's all the deeper it went in....they were lucky they didn't get any further out on the ice before it gave, the bottom drops off fast through that area. I don't know what they were thinking, that resevior is notorious for inconsistant ice conditions, I've been out there many a time drilling through 20 inches of good solid clear ice, only to go 20 yards away and find only 6 inches of ice...kinda spooky sometimes. I'm guessing a 12-pack or two of budweiser told them it was a good idea to drive out there

ya it's amazing what some people think they can do with a little beer in them,ha ,ha.
ya the lake ice at that time of year was about 2' and a 1/2" at that time but under the bridges it's usally only 8 to12" because the water movement from lake to lake, plus he said the wind was blow hard and it was snowing and did'nt know he was that close to the bridge, the main thing that made me mad was he knew better, but I guess he was showing off to his girl friend , im just glad they got out ok, because it went down fast because my son had the window down so he could see were he was "not" going.
