Bit confused about Marine Depot

If you look in there magazine at the Mag Drive pumps it says Mag-Drive pumps are not recommended for saltwater aquarium external use, then if you go to there web site it says Mag-Drive pumps are not recommended for external use. What are all of your thougts on this.

I have seen them run fine for a long time external. Wonder about this, may be worth calling them?

Hi Brad,

Thank you for your inquiry. Many people have run the Mag pumps externallyfor years with no problems at all. But there have been some issues withsome of the larger pumps leaking when run externally. We have simply put this to let people know that we do not recommend them running externally mainly due to issues some people have had with leakage.

I have used a Mag 2 and Gen x pumps externally for years with out any problems.However,it is good to know about the larger models,but I would opt for an external pump when pumping large volumes.
