new tank

Has anyone here built their own tank? I'm interested in building my own Acrylic someday and I'd like to know if anyone has some good plans for a tank. I have all the tools and skill to work on a project like this, Just curious if anyone else has tried it? I've seen tanks with ports on the bottom for filtration, is this design better than say an over the side mount?

check out www.garf.org they have a calculator that allows you to put your own deminsions into it and it will give you all sorts of information back including how many gallons the tank will be as well has how much LR and LS to put in it. It also gives pretty good instructions for building different types of tanks from Acrylic to Plywood/glass.
