I had a 55gal FOWLR about 4 years ago, and went back to freshwater because I did not have the time for maintance. About November of "03 I was going to upgrade to a 90 Gal freshwater, and my wife suggested going back to salt. I did some checking and am now in the process of putting together a Reef tank. Because of the added expence, it is taking a bit longer than freshwater would have. I started with a 90 gal Marineland Surfline tank and stand. My wife did not want a square tub so it met her standards. Because of the way it is set up, a sump is not an option. I put a DIY cap on it, and for a non carpenter the concave/convex front was a challange. I need a cap to keep bird dander out, as space is an issue, and the tank sits next to my parrot cage.I put 4, 41/2inch fans, one on each end blowing in and 2 on top blowing out, in the cap. with a filter simular to a range hood to keep the dander out. I knew heat would be a problem, but I was suprised at just how much of a problem , and will be ordering a drop-in chiller soon I hope. I want to be able to have about anything I like in the tank including clams, so I have gone with 2 96 Watt CF and 2 250 Watt MH. It is basicly a clam setup. I also have a 5 LED moonlight. the Moonlights are on 24/7, and the other lights are on individual appliance timers. I have a Remora Pro with a mag 3 pump for a skimmer, and for water movement I am using a Wave2K, that does an excelent job of moving the water. I plan on a TBS "package" for the LS and LR, as well as cleanup crew. I just wish that when I started saltwater before there would have been forums like this avalible
