View Full Version : how long to wait before it is safe to add water in acyrlic

i just built a new fuge and have heard mixed comments on how long i should wait after glueing acyrlic to add water. does anybody know???

I waited 48 hours when I made mine. The glue may say, also what kind did you use?

i used #4 weldon an # 16

I'm assuming it's an epoxy resin? If it was me...I'd wait a few days after you can no longer smell any fumes from the resin...better safe than sorry, IMO.

Actually, Weld-On is a solvent, not an epoxy. It works by quickly welding or melting the acrylic together. I usually wait at least 24 hours to to a pressure test on the new tank. Then, if all is well, it is then put into use. :)

i'd wait like 3 days...fell it up outside and see if it will hold good
