Power Compact Lighting

I have a 6 x 65watt power compact fixture on my 55 gal reef.
How long are the lights good in this fixture? The LFS says 6 months maximum. Anyone have other thoughts?

Depending on the company that made them i would say 6 months would be a good choice. I am sure erik will charm in here, but thatrs a safe bet incase you need to change them now.

the life of PCF's depends alot on the ballast. The cooler the bulb runs, the longer it lasts. I replace my PCFs and VHO every 12 months.

i would say 10 months to 12 months.....

I agree 10 to 12 months.With 12 Months a realistic maximum, especially when they are your sole source of light.

i'll go with 6-8 months.


8) allthough i try to stretch it to 10, the last few months u can really notice the change in hu.
