I am thinking of adding a Box Fish to my 16G FOWLR, I have heard that they will release toxins in the water if they become stressed or die- Has anyone actually seen this happen- and is it something to really worry about??

I have a baby yellow boxfish in my 10g nano. They come small enough, but will get too big pretty quick.

When you say they get big pretty quick, what time frame are you talking? I've only got a 30 now but I've got a 75 downstairs that I will be setting up when I have the confidence. Thought it would be best to figure out what I"m doing with the 30 before adding another one. This one I jumped into without much thought, and I'm still trying to catch up. I'm not going to do that with the 75. I'm going into that one with a thought out plan. But then again, you know what they say about the best laid plans!

Actually, the 75 would probably be easier to maintain.....more water=more stability and more room for error....you should transfer the contents of your 30 to the 75! :-D

Yes, I know now that the 75 would be easier. If only I had known that back in July. (How many times have I said that!!!) But I will keep a 30 gallon setup forever because my son made the cabinet that it sits on, and it is beautiful. It is the prettiest thing in my familyroom, and I'm very proud of it (and him) 8) . So the 75 will have to wait until I have enough money to get it up and going on it's own. And I'd love to have my son make me another stand for the 75 but between college and work (and girlfriend) he just wouldn't have the time. But it will get set up in time. I just don't want to rush this one. :)

I'd say well within a year it will be too big for a 16 gallon tank!
