i was in los angeles last weekend, and i decided to go to the labrae tar pits on wilshire in downtown los angeles. i was going there because there is a type of fish that lived in the rain water that forms on the top of the tar pits. it had been rainging lately, and was told that after hard rains the fish usually breed. most people dont believe that fish live in the tar pits, so i went with my camera to get proof.
I drove down wilshire and parked, i got out and started walking towards the tar pits when i saw a fast movement in the street out of the corner of my eye. i didnt hear anything which is very wierd because i have great hearing, but when i looked there was a car sliding down the street on it's hood. i never did hear a sound, not even and impact sound, i dont know how the car got upside down, there was no damage underneath(wheels) or to the sides or the rear of the car. it was as if someone just flipped the car upside down and pushed it down the street. at first i thought it was a movie, so i took a few pics, but then when i noticed that there were no crew, producer, or camera men i only then realised that something was very wrong. i rushed to the car, the driver didnt appear to be alive, i had movement from the passenger, but we couldnt get the door open. finally after what seemed like eternity the fire and rescue showed up. i dont know if they made it or not. i am pretty sure the driver was gone. it's a real helpless feeling that i hope i never see or feel again

Quick question, was the passenger out by your second photo there where the fire guys are there?

Also being a fire guy myself I am disappointed with the lack of protocol they have a crewman there on scene without his full gear on he is walking around in his slacks. Which raises another question if you remember, were they all like that? Bah maybe up here in Canada we're have more safety precautions.

nobody was ever out by the time i got there, the firemen were allin slacks because we were 8 blocks away from the academy awards andthey were called in along with the police to help out the award cermony

Take a look at the drivers side front tire. The rim is severly dented. It hit something going very fast......

Also, as the cars damage is mainly focused on the drivers side, I would suspect that there was another car around a corner somewhere with heavy passenger side damage. Unless it was not made immobile. Probably had a lower profile front end, and slid under this car as it flipped over.

A shame really, this person may have been at fault, or just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Since you didn't mention seeing any other rescue crews near by, I would suspect a possible hit and run.

Spent to many years doing ride alongs with my fater when he was an EMTA in Boston I guess.....

there was a white car going the wrong way on the street, the white car took off but not before a picture was taken of him, his car, and liscense plate
