I have heard of this happening, but how big is the xenia? If it is very small then the clown may be discourched.

If the clown wants to host there he will. I have had clowns in tanks with anemones and the some of the little buggers never hosted them. They hosted mushrooms, frogspawn and a colt coral. Don't get dicouraged if he doesn't take to the xenia he'll eventually find something to host.

my ocellaris clown has never hosted anything except a patch of hair algae until it disappeared, now it hosts nothing. But my Bangaii sometimes hosts with the long tentacle plate coral.

my clowns went from my ritteri to my frog spawn which I just took out because my female, was getting brown spots from the frogspawn. and now it's trying to host my xenia.
and I have 2 good size RBTA just above there cave the male hangs out in and they won't even look at it ,so there going i host more then likely any thing that is by were there first host was at, from the pattern mine have shown????
or won't host any thing at all like has been said.
