button polyps

I just picked up some buttom polyps from my LFS that I have been eyeing up for about two weeks. The day I got them about 90% of all of the polyps were open in the LFS tank (100% open the week before). Now that I have them in my tank only 4 or 5 polyps (10%)are opened. I moved my power head to give them a stronger current and noticed the next day while they were still shut, small flakes of whitish skin were peeling off of them. Are they shedding skin as they grow and this is why they are closed? The polyps that are open do not have this whitish cloud on them, just the ones that are closed. My water quality is not an issue and have good pc lighting. How strong should the current be? Thoughts?

what are your tank specs?? i think if your specs are fine, you should just give them time to acclimate. i generally dont put high currents on the button polyps, but if it's a change from the tank at the lfs, the polyps need time to adapt. i say give them roughly the same amount of current as the lfs gives them.
