NB2SB, I have a 75 gallon reef aquarium (mixed) with 4-95 watt VHO's. I am upgrading to 2-250 watt CoralVue MH's and Actinics next week which I am looking forward to. Inhabitants include various snails, hermits, starfish (Inlcuding large Yellow BrittleStar), 2 Ocellaris Clownfish, Yellow Coris Wrasse, Flasher Wrasse, and Royal Gramma. The tank is equipt with a 30 gallon sump, return pump, hang on overflow, and EuroReef skimmer. My site has been down for awhile due to it being under construction. Hopefully it will be up by January.

Looking forward to seeing it when you get it all done. Out of curiosity, why are you changing the lighting. I run one tank with 6 x 72" 160 watt VHO's, and one with 175 watt MH.

I am upgrading to 1) get rid of the pinkish color the VHO's put out and 2) keep a larger selection of more light loving Corals and Clams. One has to love the color and shimmer affect the MH's give off as well.

Ahhhh.... The shimmering light on the reefscape is very cool with MH's. I like the glow of the VHO's, but they do not compare to the growth you get with MH. I have plans for a new lighting system on my 125 gal tank, just to see how many VHO's it takes to match the growth seen under my MH. But budget constraints have these plans on hold.
