I am setting up a new reef aquarium and have a Kent Nautilus TE protein skimmer installed in an Amiracle Maxi-reef 100 filter sump. I am also using a Rio 2100 pump for the skimmer. I am getting extremely fine bubble carryover from the skimmer exhaust tube into the sump and then into the tank, even though I have placed a sponge over the exhaust tube as recommended by Kent. Any suggestions on how to prevent or minimize the bubble carryover?

ok, ill have a go at this. if the skimmer output goes into the sump, then perhaps a few baffles at staggered hights will allow the bubbles to float to the top.

I will have to agree with PBC on this one.

Also, check the air inlet tube to make sure there's no object blocking or otherwise clogging it. Sometimes this causes unnecessarily more finer bubbles. Is your mixture a more "wet" than "dry"?

Definently, double check to make sure nothing is going in the inlet. But I'd have to work on the baffle thing, if I were you and I couldn't figure out the problem. If your good enough, you won't have to take your sump out to even put them in ;) You might not have to glue them, depending on your sump....I know mine are interchangable, but I built them that way heh.

how long has the skimmer been doing this? New skimmers take a few days or so to "break in" during which time it isn't unusual to see bubble carryover...if everything else is set correctly and it continues to do this, maybe just give it a few days and see if it stops.....
