I was watching the news and some scientist made a glo in the dark fresh water zebra fish with jelly fish DNA or something like that. They will be out for sale soon in all state except cal..
Just thought i would let u guys know :-D

its coral dna and they will be released on january 5 they will also glow in regular light, a simalar fish hit the market in taiwan this summer called night pearls. those are sterile to keep them from breeding with wild populations but the ones being released from the segrest and 5-D tropical companies will be able to reproduce but only sold in america... and they are asking for an exception for these fish to be sold in cali but the decision will not be for some time now... :eek2:

so they crossed a fish witha coral??? unlikely pair, dont you think? hahah either way, I know i'm going to get a few for my community tank!!!
Believe they were crossed with the glo genes from an anemone.

We sell them at work, but they don't glow very well. They were a bit of a dissapointment

We have had them at out store here in Ohio for about 3 months or so. The are really neat to look at, and they are very vibrant red.

umm really the DNA is takin from a Jelly fish, maybe an anemone too idk, but def not corals...corals is made out of calcium

DNA is made of four tiny chemical building blocks, and the spiral ladder side rails. the four chemicals are cytocine(SITE- O SEEN), adenine(AD NEEN, guanine(GWA NEEN), and thymine(THI MEEN) none of the above cantain any calcium, all are carbon and.. i think hydrogen. niot sure, but definately not calcium.

i'm sayin how could you get DNA from a coral if its calcium?? but the fish are injected with Jellyfish DNA, never heard anything bout Corals, and i am only like 10 FW sites, i know my FW

the polyps arent calcium, they are flesh, just the same as you. the skeloton does not contain any dna, its just ther to give the polyps a place to be

the point I was trying to make is that you can get DNA from any living organisim, skeleton or not...
(why am I getting in this arguement? :D :lol: )

its kool man, thanx for the clear up!! but yea like i said its from jellyfish Kool i think, but its kinda like paintin it cept it dont hurt them as much if any
