My father owns a hobby shop, so I normally use his CA glue that's available.

Heres a neat trick that I found for glueing frags when using superglue. Well first you dry the area where the glue is going on the frag then put a of glue on the dry spot then dip that end into you tank water and pull it out again. This creates a superfishal skin over the glue. Next all you have to do is place the frag where you want it and stick it. I have found by doin this it seems to glue down even faster.

I also use Loctites Superglue Gel (Cyanocrylate). I live close to a place that is out in front of Aquarium Systems called Fastenal. They sell superglue gel by the Toothpaste sized tube. If you want a price contact me.

I never really had to much luck with rubber bands

I use the small rubberbands with the mesh. I use mesh for my mushrooms. I lay it across the top of the mushroom and wrap it around and secure it with a rubberband. Under the piece of rock with the mushroom the mesh and rubberband look like the way the LFS tie the rubberband around the bag.

I may have to try that next time I frag my shrooms what kind of mesh are you using

A light very fine mesh. Almost like a netting. Cheese cloth might work too or any type of netting that will allow water circulation. I only let it on for about a week or until the mushroom attaches.

Did you know you can use bakingsoda to set superglue? :) Just use a toothpick, lick it a ilttle, put some baking soda on it, and put it on the glue...it should cure faster :) It works on superglue as well as CA glue, same glue :) Although I've never tried this for coral mounting, I use superglue...so why not? :) I'll give it a try, I used to use it on models when I was a kid and ran out of activator spray.

I found a trick that works nice with super glue first you dry the areas on which you want to glue then place a dab of glue on the spot then dip it in water and then place it on where you want it and is seems to glue faster

I use Reef Construct from Aquamedic wich is basically two sticks that you have to mix together to get some white sticky thing...

I use GARF'S "Sally Jo's Gel" to attach most of my frags and cuttings to Agrocrete DIY reef plugs I make and cast from styrofoam egg cartons. I prefer this glue as it has a really long cure time unti it gets wet and then it hardens quickly. This is a bit costlier glue, but its just the ticket for working with coral frags!

I've got some pieces of corals (frags? - I'm new at all of this) and I need to stick them down on live rock. Is there some type of superglue that I could use that someone could recommend me that I could pick up at Home Depot?

Duro brand super glue gel is readily available and bonds quickly. Loctite also makes a glue gel as well. Look for cyanoacrylate on the label and be sure to use the gel brand, not the regular. Regular is too runny.

Thanks. But can you give me instructions about how to do it? Does everything need to be stuck to the rock or does some stuff just automatically attach itself? Also, how do I glue it? I see that some people wrote that they glue the bottom of the coral after they dry it off, then dip it in water and then put it down on the rock. Am I supposed to dip it in the tank water itself? Again, I am new at all of this, I am not sure what I am doing, so I want to make sure I do this correctly. Someone was trying to clean out some overgrowth from his 80 gallon tank and he offered to give me some stuff. I've got xenia, zooanthus, other types of polyps and soft corals. I guess I need to take pictures of all of it and show it to you. Thanks.

I usually take a small contaier and put some tank water in that to dip the end of the coral frag into so I don't have that litle sim of glue floating on the surface of the tank.

Unless the soft corals are attached to a rock or piece of rubble you won't be able to glue those. they secrete a slime that makes it impossible for the glue to attach, but more importantly - it will harm the flesh of the coral. I have glued individual polups of zoos before, but those things are pretty indestructable.

post up som epics so we can see what you're trying to attach.
