if you got your mind set on a angle, you should add all your corals first and have the fish be the last addition, that will make it less likley to nip at your corals

there both beautiful but the flame angel is twice the $$$

u could probably keep a angel in a reef as long as u dont mind losing a few polyps here and there

Do You Mean Like Loosing A Colony Or A Few Polyps

i have a flame in my tank right now. it doesnt touch anything. so it really depends on the fish.

Ok, I Will Go With The Flame. Blackangler I Was Looking At Your Profile And Saw That You Have A 45 Gallon Reef. What Kind Of Fish Do You Have In That?

In addition, the flames are also very hardy vis-a-vis the coral beauty.

Another angel you could possibly add is an emporer. I had an emporer in with my reef and they dont nip or pick on any of my corals. Other aquariasts I spoke with experienced the same.

I never purchased one, only because my distributor informed me they're a bit difficult to keep in home aquariums. In addition to chopped meat and algae, they prefer actual sponges over the prepared angel food (Ocean Nutrition)

Wow, I Was Considering Buying One Of Those But Now I Am Not GOing To

I had a Flame...he was fine in my reef, but he ended up MIA...who knows what happened to him.....I then got a Rusty Angel, he was a real bully to my other fish...traded him for a nice mushroom rock.... :)

Mick,

Two good selections as I have both. An Emporer and Flame will get along as they're different (pomacanthus and centropyge). In general, angel fish from diffeent genra (eg., pomacanthus and pomacanthus) will not get along unless you house them in a very large tank and provide adequate hiding space and ample feedings.

re: Rusty Pygmy Angel. They kind of remind me of a damsel, maybe that's why it was pugnacious.

If you are looking for a truly 100% reef safe angel look into the genus Genicanthus. They feed exclusively on planktonic foods.
