Bangaii Cardinals in groups?????

I read an article recently, that stated matter of factly that Bangai cardinals do well in groups. It has been my displeasure to learn from experience that they do not seem to know this. I believe this behavior is exhibitited in the wild, although in the captive environment this does not seem the case.

Has anyone else been successful with more than 2 of these fish in a tank of 125 gallons or less. If so, please let me know what you think on the subject. Like perhaps what I may not have been doing to keep these fish happy and peaceful.

Anyone know first hand the behaviors that are typically exhibited by a "happy" Bangaii in captivity?

I am interested in hearing all your views.

I know a lot of people that breed them, including Frank Marini, Ph.D. a published expert on breeding the Banggai Cardinalfish. Although I do not know him personally, I've read many of his articles on breeding them. They breed easily, and their fry are one of the easiest to raise, unlike clowns, which are hard to raise in most cases and costly. They are normally schoolers and do well in groups. You can successfully keep them in a 55 gallon. Although telling the difference between male and female, there is no apparant way as of yet...even though some claim the dorsal fin has something to do with it.

For what its worth, I usually find them in several large groups at my distributors. They have 60g holding tanks (taking a 180 and sectioning into 3) and cardinals are usually in two or thee of them, pajama's always separate from the Bangaii. I purchased a four for a client recently and he keeps them in his 55g without any problems.

I have kept them in a 55 gallon before ... the biggest thing is to place them in the tank at the same time. I had one in the tank and then placed three more in about 2 months later and the first one killed the others at night.
