hey guys,

Welcome to CoralForum.com.

We want to use this section for questions regaurding new setups and beginner questions. We are setting up the Reference section for information on how to set up a tank, and info on equiptment and such.

This way after reading the reference section you can come here to ask any further questions to help you understand thing better.

Did you really set up your tank that fast CDubbs? I hope all turned out well for you. I don't recommend cycling a tank with fish or inverts, just LR and/or LS. After it cycles I add the critters. Cuts down on the expense of replacing fish and such....

yes it is true..i setup the tank in one day than i added 2 damsels the next day..i am very impatient.than after a few days my ammonia went up and so did my nitrates than after a week it looked like my readings were good..so i went to the lfs and i saw they had a baby bamboo and i had to have it..so i got him and he was doing fine and the ammonia looked like it was at .25 so everyone got me scared that he was gonna die so i tried to bring it back to the store and they didnt want me to..so i just did a little water change here and there and he made it..now i have a dwarf fuzzy lion, bamboo shark and 2 damsels in my 55gal..i have an aquaclear 300 and a penguin 330 and a jebo protein skimmer..the tanks conditions are perfect right now and everyone is doing good..i am either gonna build a 300gal tank in a few months or buy a 180gal...

I am glad that all turned out well for you. If you are able, I would go with the bigger tank. A 180 is big, but not that big in your sharks eyes......

Keep us posted, and post some pics if you have any. I like to see others tanks, it gives us all an idea of what can be achieved in this hobby.

Well, we kinda did that except it took us a week to even add any critters or rocks (live ones) ^^; But man you sure are lucky.

I want to set up a saltwater tank but I'm afraid of spending all that money. THe fish are so expenisve. As of now, i have only a cichlid tank.

You can find ways to make it cheaper, but remember, "you get what you pay for!" I have found good deals however on products through boards like coral forum.

I'm in the process of setting up a new 52G fowlr - 1st time experience for me! The only inhabitant of my tank so far is the dead prawn on the sand

I set up a 45 FOWLR last October with sand and LR....I added three chromis about 3 wks. ago and recently added some snails and hermits....IMO...the slower the better in this hobby :)
